A movie by the legend himself: 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano. Director, screenwriter, comedian, actor, and icon known for Violent Cop, Hana-Bi, Battle Royale, Johnny Mnemonic, Ghost in the Shell and many more.

Music by one of the greatest ever: Joe Hisaishi. Composer, musical director, conductor and pianist behind over 100 film scores including Kitano’s A Scene at the Sea, Kikujiro, and Brother, as well as his famed work for director and animator Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli classics Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and the list goes on.

Joe Hisaishi’s first ever produced-album was his collaboration with Midori Takada: MKWAJU Ensemble’s MKAWJU.

The Sonatine soundtrack showcases the composer’s more contemplative/minimalistic/intimate side in a superb and deeply evocative neo-classical/ambient musical journey. It is known to be one of Hisaishi’s own favorite scores.
