The table is set, the coffee is ready. Two girls climb a tree, higher and higher, left or right. A woman is trying to find her way in a deserted landscape. One more try.
In Passages ‘time’ and “making choices” run as two red threads running through four storylines. The storylines seem intertwined, but is this the case? Or is the author playing with the expectations of the reader who sees a piece of a four-part puzzle in each storyline?

De tafel is gedekt, de koffie staat klaar. Twee meisjes klimmen in een boom, hoger en hoger, links of rechts. Een vrouw zoekt haar weg in een verlaten landschap. Nog één keer proberen.
In Passages lopen ‘tijd’ en ‘keuzes maken’ als twee rode draden doorheen vier verhaallijnen. De verhaallijnen lijken verweven, maar is dit wel zo? Of speelt Verschaffel met het verwachtingspatroon van de lezer die in elke verhaallijn een stukje van een vierdelige puzzel ziet?
