Vinyl LP Record, 1990 (2015 pressing)

Sinéad O'Connor is widely regarded as one of the most influential female performers of the ‘90s, not only for her sensational performances and raw vocal emotion but also for her outspoken confidence to express herself publicly. Sinéad was born in Dublin in 1966, and was discovered by Paul Byrne, drummer of U2 protégés In Tua Nua, while singing wedding covers in the city. After co-writing the first In Tua Nua single, she left school to focus on music, studying voice and piano at the Dublin College of Music before relocating to London in 1985.

I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got was first released in March 1990 as the follow up to her sensational debut The Lion and the Cobra and became a global success, reaching #1 around the world and selling over seven million copies. The album features Sinéad’s beloved version of the Prince song ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ which was an worldwide hit single, reaching the #1 spot in over 20 international charts. The song is frequently hailed as one of the greatest songs of the 1990s and was featured in Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Songs of All Time’ list.

Elsewhere, the album offers a showcase of Sinéad’s musical range, across tracks such as confessional single ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, the dramatic yet intimate ‘Last Day Of Our Acquaintance’, and the uncompromising ‘Black Boys On Mopeds’
